ProSelect Jump Start

ProSelect is very easy to learn and use. Most people pickup the basics in less than an hour and are using it with clients soon after that. (We DO recommend that you at least rehearse your presentation with ProSelect before going live with real clients!)

To save you time, we have put together this Jump Start page to help you get up and running and profitable with ProSelect as quickly as possible...

1. Watch the Movies

For a quick overview watch the following movie on the Demos page:

  • Using the Basic Features of ProSelect

Then watch all the short movies in the

  • Learning ProSelect - The Basics section.

These will get you started. If you are really keen, you can dive right in and watch them all!

2. Read the Quick Start Guide

Re-inforce what you have learnt in the movies by skimming through the Quick Start Guide.

This Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file is automatically installed with the program and you can open it from the Help Menu within ProSelect.

If you prefer a hard copy version, you can print this, however, since the standard file is designed for screen viewing, you will get a better quality printed manual if you download the "Print Res version" from the Downloads page.

Note: The ProSelect Reference Manual is also accessible from the menu in ProSelect.

3. Load the Sample Album

This is a small ProSelect album already populated with some images that you can play with. You will find this album installed on your computer in the following places:

Windows PC's: In the My Documents folder on your computer.
Mac's: In the ProSelect folder which you normally would have dragged to your Applications folder.

To open this album file, select Open Album (from the File Menu) and select the file "Sample Album.psa" in the folder mentioned above.

When you have finished, select New Album (under the File Menu) to clear this Album out of ProSelect.

4. Create Your Own Album

Drag a folder of high-res images (.jpg, .tif or .psd) into the left hand column in ProSelect to load them... OR

Click the Add Folder button (bottom left corner) and select your folder of images to load.

After the images have been loaded, you should save them as an Album using the Save Album command (under the File Menu).

5. A few good things to Setup in ProSelect first

ProSelect comes with most commonly used settings already setup. Some things that you might like to also do:

In the Preferences, (under the ProSelect menu on Macs or under the Edit menu on PC's)

  • Select the default music to play during the slideshow (click the Slideshow tab). See the Reference manual page 75 for more information.
  • Calibrate your projector screen so images can be shown at exact size (click the Display tab). See the Reference manual page 65 for more information.

In the Price List Setup (under the Orders Menu):

  • Add your prices to the default print items in the price list.

6. Where to find more information

  • The ProSelect Reference Manual (under the Help Menu in ProSelect)
  • The searchable Knowledge Base in our Support Center (You can also get to this from the Help menu in ProSelect)
