ProSelect Reviewby Kevin Kubota The following is an excerpt from the book, The Digital Photography Bootcamp®, 2nd Edition, by Kevin Kubota. Published by Amherst Media and available at www.KubotaImageTools.com. A Complete Digital Sales Solution For the busy studio, or one looking to become busy, give a more powerful sales and presentation tool a try. There are several on the market, with new ones emerging all the time. However, a product called ProSelect, from a company named TimeExposure (www.TimeExposure .com) in Australia, warrants a trial. The software is brilliant in its simplicity. It has a clean, elegant, uncluttered interface and is very intuitive to use. The programmers have worked closely with photographers to create a program that thoughtfully covers almost every possible scenario. We’ve found that ProSelect works beautifully in tandem with Lightoom and Photoshop. After our images are edited, corrected, and prepared in Lightroom, we can quickly load them into ProSelect for the client presentation. After the presentation, the images are passed to Photoshop for final preparation for the lab. There are myriad ingenious features in the program, but here are a few that we particularly like:
Here’s a cool trick for users of Lightroom and ProSelect. When you are done with your adjustments and editing in Lightroom, and ready to make a presentation to the client, there’s a quick way to get the images into ProSelect. If you recall the Export Actions folder in Lightroom, from the earlier section on Actions and Droplets (see Chapter 10), then all you have to do is put an alias, or shortcut, to ProSelect in this folder. Then, when you batch process your images into low resolution JPG files, add the option in the export dialog to post process with ProSelect. When used this way, the images will be converted then automatically passed to ProSelect and added to a new album, ready to present! If an album is currently open in ProSelect, then the images are added to the active album.
11-17a: Add an alias (or shortcut on the PC) of ProSelect to the Export Actions folder in Lightroom. Select it as a Post-processing option. Save this as an export preset and you are one button away from a sales presentation! This program actually makes the sales and presentation process fun! The beautiful interface and cool features are impressive to clients as well.
