Error message while making Quicktime movie

If you get an the error message "An error occurred. Movie file not created" while creating a Quicktime movie then it means that Quicktime encountered a problem while building the movie.

If this occurs, try the following:

  1. Turn off the music. If this fixes the error then it maybe that you are using an unsupported audio file type. At present, we know that .mp3 work and .acc and .ac2 don't appear to work. Note: these other audio file format types may play fine in ProSelect but can still cause the movie not to build. If you are using a Windows PC then you should not be using .wma or .wav music files because Quicktime cannot play these formats and you will get an error creating the movie.

  2. Reduce the number of images. Perhaps you are running out of memory or disk space while building the movie.

  3. Update to the latest version of QuickTime (namely 7.6.5 or newer). There were some problems with some earlier versions (particularly the first few version 7 releases).

  4. If you are using ProSelect version 4.1, then download the newest ProSelect release available to you as this includes fixes of a few problems in the QT Slideshow Movie under Vista and Windows 7.  (If you are a v4 license holder, then version 4.1.7 is available from the "Old Versions" downloads page.)
