Timeout message during upload

After uploading each image the Upload Manager waits for acknowledgement from the WebGallery server that the image has arrived before sending the next one. If this takes longer than a set time, then it assumes that the connection to the server has been lost and stops sending the images (it Pauses). This can happen if you are using an unreliable Internet connection (such as dial-up) or there is a lot of network congestion between your location and the server at the time.

If you are uploading hi-def images then this may make the problem worse because images hi-def image sizes are 3-4 times larger and will take 3-4 times longer to upload to the server.

If this is happening then you can:

  1. Increase the maximum timeout time from the default setting of 30 seconds to a longer setting. This can be adjusted in the dialog box which appears by holding the Shift key down while starting the Upload Manager.
  2. Try the upload at another time when the network is likely to be less busy.

Continuing the upload

If you do get a timeout error, you can just continue the upload from where it stopped by selecting "Resume" from the Upload Queue tab in Upload Manager.

Note: In rare cases, using Resume, may actually upload the same image more than once. If this happens you can easily remove the extra image from the album this way:

  1. Log into the Members Admin Area (quick access under the WebGallery menu in Upload manager --> Go to Member's Admin Area)
  2. Locate the album in the Album list and click the details link for that album
  3. Click the manage photos link (next to the set containing the duplicate images)
  4. Find the duplicate photo in the image list and click the remove link.
