Distributing Templates in Collections

If you have designed a set of templates that you wish to distribute to other ProSelect users, then the best way to do this is as a ProSelect Collection file (.tpk).  You need to be using ProSelect Pro to do this.

Creating a Collection

If you have already created your templates, then

  1. Put them into a Template Group (in any Template Category) using the Template Manager (under Templates menu in v2012r2 and newer).
  2. Choose Export Collection (Resources Menu --> Collection Tools).
  3. Select the Template Category and Group
  4. Check "Include Photoshop files" if you want to (AND have also imported them into your Resources folder)
  5. Click the Export button.

This and more can be found on the "Managing your Templates" (*v2012r2 and newer) & "Exporting Collections" pages in the ProSelect Reference Manual (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect).

If you haven't yet created your templates then you can see how to do this in the "About Templates" ProSelect Reference Manual or watch the Webinar Recordings on Templates (under the Training menu).

NOTE:

It's important to know that Exporting Collections is not to be used for copying your templates between your own computers. How to transfer your ProSelect Data (Prices, Templates and Resource data) can be found in the ProSelect Reference Manual (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect) or the article Transferring or Backing up your Prices and Templates.

Collection Advantages

The advantage of using a Collection are:

  • All the template information is in one single file that is easy for the user to install using the "Import Collection" (under Resources menu).
  • You can include one or more template groups, and those group names will be carried through when installed on the user's machine.
  • You can include styles and book designs.
  • Any resource images associated with your templates or styles are also included in the Collection file.
  • Creating a Collection file is easy (ProSelect Pro is required)

General Notes:

  1. Anyone who wishes to import a Collection file that they receive from you, can do this using either the ProSelect (Basic) or ProSelect Pro.
  2. We recommend that you .zip the exported .tpk when distributing it on the internet to avoid it becoming corrupted by some browsers.
  3. Some older versions of ProSelect software will not be able to access the newer features such as tilted openings and fixed sizing.
  4. TimeExposure's Composite Album Collection's do require ProSelect Pro as they are designed to be used with the Production system available within ProSelect Pro .

Protected Collections

Examples of Collection files are ProStudio Software's Composite Album Collection's and the Inspire Collection from Design Aglow and Marci's PhotoMojo Collections.

If you wish to develop and sell your templates and designs commercially on ProStudio Software' website, you can apply for a Commercial Collection licence. This allows you to create locked collections that can only be imported using an unlock key unique to the each ProSelect licence. In this case, you will need to enter your assigned Author ID and a different one or two character Product ID for each Collection product that you produce. Please contact ProStudio Software Support menu) if you wish to discuss this further.
