Image Adjustments using Custom Actions
If you find that you need to occasionally make an adjustments to an image or images that you have imported, try creating some Custom Actions to do this for you.

For example, setup two actions in Photoshop that adjust the gamma setting of an image by a set amount up and down and call them "Lighten" and "Darken".  In ProSelect's Preferences -> Image Effects -> Custom effects add these to your list of available Custom Effects Actions (See the ProSelect Reference Manual for information on adding Custom Effects Actions).

Then, with Photoshop running in the background,  simply select the image or images that you wish to apply this effect to and select the appropriate Custom Effect from the right-hand tool bar. ProSelect will send a low-res copy image to Photoshop, run the action and bring the result back into ProSelect automatically. Because you are working with low res images, this is usually very fast. Remember you can also set ProSelect to automatically duplicate the image or not when doing this.

ProSelect remembers each action that you run for each image and these are cumulative so you can run multiple actions on the same image. So, for example, you could run a lighten effect twice to correct a very dark image.

Because, by default, ProSelect will automatically run those same actions on the original images when you use Hi-Res Production, you won't need to manually re-apply these sort of corrections when it comes to final production of ordered images.

ProSelect will allow you to setup up to 5 Custom Effects while ProSelect Pro will allow you to setup up to 25.

Ron Nichols provides a free set of  "Ron's Photoshop Actions for ProSelect" for doing these sort of corrections that you can get from RonNichols.com downloads page.
