Irregular Outside Edged Frames

Frames with irregular outside edges can not be directly used in ProSelect "Frames" area currently.

However support for "whole frame" images (as opposed to moulding segments that ProSelect currently supports) is planned for inclusion in a future ProSelect software release.

In the meantime, you can use overlay images on fixed size templates for frames that do not have straight outside edges (irregular outside edges).  And Frames with straight outside edges can of course be used this was if you wish to (however recommend using Frame segments instead for this and the "Select Frame" Tool).

Make sure the background (outside of Frame area) is set as tranparent in Overlay image file (see how to do this below) and the Template attributes "Wall Grouping" and "Fixed Size" is set so can be used on any backgrounds including when in "Working with Rooms".

To find out more about using Overlay images in Templates, please see

  1. The ProSelect Reference Manual pages on "Editing - Adding Overlay Images" and "Creating Overlay Images in Photoshop" (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect).
  2. The Webinar Archives recordings like "Template Design | Photoshop Magic inside ProSelect" and "All About Templates Part 2".

General Information

Frames is different to being used IN a template. When changing sizes of custom frames, the frame remains the same width and is placed around any size template as you change the paper size.

However a frame can be created and used as a template overlay where they have irregular outside edges.

Examples of these type of  frames are "Zin Frames", "GNP Frame Templates" & "Obrien Schridde Designs" (found on our ProSelect Resources page under the Downloads menu). These type of frames should be set as fixed size (frame) templates and not resizable as mentioned above.
