Framing sizes in linear measurement

Updated December 25th 2011

As of ProSelect v2012r1 and newer, the software includes easier Price List setup, automatically calculated prices for Print Extras, Layout Extras and Frames, plus instant Frame ordering.

You will find more information in the ProSelect Reference Manual (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect) and also the Webinar recording such as "ProSelect | Picking, Pricing & Ordering" with helpful information about price grouping and more and is accessible under the Training menu on the TimeExposure web site.

Original Article (for older versions)

When you order a layout with Extras or as a Custom product, ProSelect will display the Layout Area and the Overall Size.

If you are using inch units then this will be something like:

Layout Area: 3.3 sq. ft
Overall Size: 26.8in x 18 in

Some framers quote frames by the total length of the frame around the outside of the mat, others by the frame area as shown above.

If your framer uses the first method, then you can convert the Overall size into the outside length by adding the length and width shown in the Overall Size and multiplying by two.

In the above example that would be (26.8+18)x2 = 89.6 in or 7.4 ft
