Custom Photoshop Actions start but don't complete

If when trying to run a custom action and the message "Running Photoshop action" appears, but stays for a long time and finally the message "Photoshop cannot be found..." (or something similar) appears. When you switch to Photoshop, you can see that the image has opened but Photoshop has stopped,  then check the following:

The usual problem is that you have not exactly matched the action set name or the action name in ProSelect's Preferences (Image Effects Tab) with the same names in Photoshop. These are case-sensitive, so check that upper and lower case is the same.

Other possible causes:

  1. Make sure that you don't have any funny characters in your action names such as quotes, slashes, ampersands etc.
  2. Make sure that the action that you are using does NOT save the file any stage. ProSelect automatically adds these commands.
  3. Make sure that the action does NOT ask for any user input since this will stop the action from completing & returning a result to ProSelect

Testing Actions

You can test your Custom Effects Actions using the Test button on ProSelect's Preferences -> Image Effects -> Custom Effects Actions. This is the best way to test your actions.

If the above test does not work then you should re-test your action in Photoshop by opening any image and running the action directly from the Actions palette (Window Menu) in Photoshop.
