Preventing Border Styles on some Layout Openings

ProSelect applies the selected style to all openings in the layout EXCEPT those that you have set as having "No Style".

You can prevent styles (borders) from being applied to selected layout openings using either of the following options.

The first is for changing the opening to not apply a style in a Layout, the later option is for changing the setting in a Template. So it depends if the change is needed as a once off, or on a more permanent basis!

In a Layout

To remove the styling around the selected opening in a Layout, choose the "Set back to No Borders" feature under the Styles Tool in the right hand tool bar.

Note: If you change your mind after using this feature, then this cannot be turned off as such. See the article "Reversing  the "Set Back to no Border" feature for how to do this.

In a Template

You can set openings in a template that can or cannot accept styles by,

  1. Open the template in the Template Editor (under Templates menu),
  2. Select each opening in turn and either check/uncheck the "No Style" check box in the right-hand template data box, then Save Changes.

Hint 1:
In most cases, you would not use the "No Style" option except where the opening was used as a background and you didn't want the border applied to that one.

Hint 2:
If you have already created layouts that have a different setting than what you want, you will need to edit the original template, save it, then create a new layout from it.

A shortcut for updating the layouts is to hold down the Alt key (on Windows) or Option Key (on Mac), while dragging the old layout and dropping it onto the updated template (Thumbnail) below. This will create a new layout with the images from the old one, and you can then delete the old layout.  Doing this in reverse updates the layout (does not make a copy).

This and other helpful information can be found in the Layouts - View Modes section on the "Thumbnail View" page in the ProSelect Reference manual (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect).

Note: If this layout has already been ordered, then you will need to duplicate this first (remove the original order and layout) and then re-order the corrected layout (particularly for Production purposes).
