Applying a Matt around images in a Wall Grouping

ProSelect 2011r1 and newer

ProSelect include the ability to show arrangements (up to 16 layouts in 2011r1, and up to 30 images and/or layouts in 2011r2 and newer) together in Select Size View and when using Room Views.

This is done by simply dragging them into the Display Area from the Image List. This means that you are able to display your Matts, styles, frames and size them  (if not a fixed size) independently. You can drag their positions around on the screen to create arrangements such as wall galleries and as of ProSelect 2011r2 and newer, you can also save your Room Design in the album file.

However if using a "Wall Grouping" (eg in ProSelect 2010r1 and v4)

The "Wall Grouping" attribute setting for a ProSelect template is another way to create an arrangement on the wall (with a single layout). When you set this option in a template, it tells ProSelect to make the matt area transparent and put any frames around each opening in the template rather than overall template.

This however has restrictions, and to enable adding a Matt around each opening in a Wall Grouping template, your need to use the following work around:

  1. Create a new Template Style
  2. Set the Matt Color set to the color that you want for the matt
  3. Add a border with a "space" which is the width of the matt that you want to add (eg 4"). (This works because spaces in borders are set to the selected Matt Color.)

Then to use this:

  1. Select your wall grouping template
  2. Set it to the size that want using the larger/smaller Layout size buttons
  3. Add your images
  4. Apply your frame
  5. Apply your style

Remember that in this case, the main image size shown at the bottom of the screen will be the entire opening size including the "border matt" that you have applied.

Note: ProSelect 2011r2 and newer has the ablity explode your Wall Grouping Layouts using the Convert Wall Grouping into Layouts command (under the Album menu) to make each opening into a separate layout which can be moved, framed, styled and sized (if not a fixed size) independently in a Room Design.
