Unable to select multiple images now (could before)

Updated June 26th, 2015

If you are suddenly finding you can not select multiple images in ProSelect like you did before, then it may be to do with some third-party software causing the computer key strokes to become confused or not accessible in ProSelect. This problem seemed to have started with the Mavericks (10.9) and newer versions of OS X and only effects programs that use the older Carbon APIs.

ProSelect v2015r2 fix

This problem no longer occurs when using ProSelect version 2015r2 (and newer) because these versions have been re-engineered to use Apple's latest Cocoa APIs.

If your SUPPORTPlus was activate on May 1st, 2015 then this update is a no cost upgrade for you. Otherwise, you can upgrade and start using all the newest features available or try the suggestions below.

Restarting your Computer

We suggest that you save the file you have open (if wishing to), close ProSelect, then restart the computer and open ProSelect again as this seems to have resolved the issue for some users.

Turn off WebRoot software

If you are using the WebRoot software then try turning this off. See Webroot Security causes keystroke issues for more about this.

Recent updates/upgrades

If you have recently added or updated any other software relating to these areas, then try removing it or reverting your computer back to a pre-update state.

Tablet Driver

A couple of other reports were found to be caused by an issue with the Wacom tablet driver (possibly an erroneous driver update was released by Wacom).

As advised by a user, updating the Wacom tablet driver to the newest version resolved the issue.

Still not Resolved?

If still not resolved, you could:

  1. Install an older version of the Wacom tablet/mouse/keyboard driver (if any of these drivers were updated just prior to the problem starting).
  2. Install or check ProSelect on another computer to see it is has the same problems.
  3. Log in using another account on your computer (this solution was reported by one user though it's not very convenient!)
  4. Use one of the other techniques for comparing multiple images (see section below)

Selecting and Comparing Images - other methods

There are other methods of getting multiple images onto the Display Area together for comparison. These are discussed in the "Show Images View - Show & Compare" section of the ProSelect Reference Manual (under Help menu in ProSelect).

There is also an article Selecting and comparing images with helpful techniques.
