Resolving Shared Data mismatch

If you have ProSelect installed on multiple computers (according to your license) and found that some computers are not pointing to the correct data sharing location/missing data, then here are the instructions from the ProSelect Reference Manual with some additions to help resolve this for you.

Also see Trouble shooting data sharing.

Firstly:

  1. Close ProSelect on all computers.
  2. Make a backup copy of your master ProSelect Resources Folder and ProSelect Data file (see the article Backing up & Retrieving your Price Lists and Templates data for how to do this).

Then on the main computer with your MASTER set up (i.e. the latest Resource Images and Prices & Templates data)

  1. Open ProSelect.
  2. Copy your ProSelect Resources folder to the shared location on your network.
  3. Open Sharing Setup window in Preferences (General Tab --> Sharing) and click the Shared Data Folder radio button. If the Setup window does not open click the Setup button.
  4. Select your shared Resource Folder Location.
  5. If you haven't done so already, you can upload your current ProSelect Data from your computer to the Share Folder by clicking on the Send to Shared button.
  6. We recommend that you "Always Update the Data File on this computer without asking".
  7. To allow this computer to make changes to the data file, select either the second or third options under Saving ProSelect Data File Changes.
  8. Click the OK button to close the Setup window.
  9. Click Save button to save the Preferences.

Finally, on the other computer(s):

  1. What's New in 2019r2What's New in 2019r2 Open ProSelect.
  2. Open Sharing Setup window in Preferences (General Tab --> Sharing) and click the Shared Data Folder radio button. If the Setup window does not open click the Setup button.
  3. Select your shared Resource Folder Location.
  4. To allow this computer to make changes to the data file, select either the second or third options under Saving ProSelect Data File Changes, otherwise select Don't Save changes.
  5. Click the OK button to close the Setup window.
  6. Click Save button to save the Preferences.
  7. Select Update from ProSelect Data file --> Shared Location (under File Menu)

If still an issue, then make sure that this is not a networking problem and the computers are able to communicate correctly.  The ProSelect Resources folder/Shared Folder need to be in a location that is always accessible to all computers.
