Keyboard shortcuts sometimes not working on Windows

Windows has some funny quirks in that sometimes, if an application has multiple non-modal windows open on top of each other, it will send keyboard presses to the wrong window.

We had a recent case where a ProSelect user had the ProSelect Messages window behind ProSelect's main window and when his last click on the main window was over the top of the area where the Messages window was hidden, the keyboard shortcuts stopped working. This was because his key presses were being sent to the Messages window instead of the main window.

To avoid this problem, if the Messages window appears on top of ProSelect's main window then you should close this window properly, rather then just clicking on ProSelect's main window to bring it to the front (and hiding the Messages window behind it).

Note: The Messages window will appear on startup if you have an "important" message (such as a new update available) or your Preferences (General Setting -> General -> Messages) is set to open the window when there are any unread messages. It will also re-check for new messages every 3-4 hours and re-open if there are any new messages subject to the above criteria.

For more about marking messages as read or deleting messages see this article: About the ProStudio Software Messaging System

Note: This issue does not occur on Mac computers.
