ProSelect 2011r2 and newer

Working with Rooms is another "working with mode" that provides a powerful way for you to create bespoke wall gallery designs for your clients accurately scaled on a Room View background or at actual size on the wall (if you screen is large enough!) . 

These designs can now include any mix of up to 30 prints or layouts each with or without a frame. And your wall gallery designs are saved in the album file so you can prepare these before the sales session or interactively with your client present.

If you need to have a fixed arrangement, then using the Wall Grouping attribute in Templates is a good solution (as explained below under the section ProSelect 4.1 and 2010r1).

ProSelect 2011r1

ProSelect 2011r1 allows you to show up to 16 layouts at the same time in Show Layouts, Cropping and Select Size view (with and without Room View).

ProSelect 4.1 and 2010r1

You can simulate a Wall Gallery (a collection of separate framed images on a wall) in ProSelect, where images can be viewed at actual size in Select Size view or displayed on an actual image of a wall in Room Views.

To do this quickly and easily, we added a Wall Grouping property for templates as of ProSelect v4.1 and newer. Here is how you do it:

1. Create a template where each opening represents the relative position of each print on the wall. Remember to leave sufficient space around each opening for any frames that you might wish to add.
2. Then select the Wall Grouping checkbox for this template (in Edit Templates). This will tell ProSelect to treat each opening as an individual image, make the background transparent and show any applied frames around each opening rather than the entire template.
3. If you only wish to show and order this "grouping" at one size (ie the size that you designed it at) then you can also check the Fixed size attribute checkbox.

The OLD loooong way for historical reasons...!

In ProSelect 4.0.x

If you are using this older version (we do suggest you update though!), then after you have created a layout using this template designed in point 1 above, choose a style that has no Mat (background) set and`optionally have some borders (setup a wide colored keyline) to each image. This way it will appear that each image in the layout is a separate item on the wall or over a Room view image.

Do it yourself (not required if you use the version 4.1 method above of course) ...

Create an overlay image and attach it to a template as follows:

1. Design your Wall Gallery as a Photoshop file with a transparent background. Since this image file will only be used for display on the screen it can be the size of your largest screen (eg say 1700 pixels wide x 1200 pixels high).
2. In the image, draw or copy your frames and mats (if applicable) with the space between the frames and inside the frames as transparent areas.  All openings need to be correctly proportioned to the sizes that you wish to use. It may be easier to design the image using an even scale such as 10:1  (so 11x16in image size becomes 1.1x1.6in on the screen. After you have finished, if necessary,  you can scale the overall image down to closer to a screen size.
3. Save the image as a .psd file.
4. Open ProSelect and choose Edit Templates (from the Templates menu) and add new template (button at bottom left).
5. Check the Overlay Image box and, in the Image Resource dialog, click the Import button in the Import Using Photoshop box. Select your saved .psd file from above and, after it has been imported and scaled, it should be selected in the list. Click the Select button.
6. Check the Show Overlay Mask checkbox.
7. Drag and size the opening over the main image position in your overlay image so that the edges of the opening are just outside of the image's "hole" in the frame (or mat).
8. Enter the actual size of that opening into the Opening's Width and Height boxes on the right-hand side eg 11.0 in and 16.0 in.
9. While holding down the Alt/Option key, click the Apply Changes button. This will change the size of the overall template to keep the main opening at the size that you entered. (Note: This only works in ProSelect version 4.0.5 and newer).
10. Add another opening for the next image. Enter its actual sizes in the Opening's Width and Height boxes and click Apply Changes button. Do NOT hold the Alt/Option key down this time because you do not want to alter the template's overall size.
11. Drag the opening over to its associated "hole" in your overlay image. If you have designed your overlay image correctly it will should be slighly larger than the "hole" in the frame (or mat).
12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 above for each additional image in your Gallery design.
13. Enter a name for the template, select which group you wish to save it into and click the Save Changes button.
