Prompted to Recover Album when starting a new Album

When you start ProSelect if you receive a message prompting you to restore an album file, then this means that your last new and unsaved album file was not closed or saved properly (e.g. due to a program or system crash) and the ProSelect auto recovery system is prompting you to recover the unsaved changes in that file.

Unless you specifically want to recover those unsaved changes, when you are asked "Do you want to Restore?", say "No". After this you should then be able to create a new album.

If, after doing this, you are still being asked to restore the album file, then you will need to locate and delete the file "untitled.psa" (make sure ProSelect is NOT running when doing this!). This is the temporary album file ProSelect creates when the program first starts up.

You will find this file in the following location (see notes below if you can not see the relevant folder):

On Mac
     Your User Home/Library/Preferences/ProSelect

On Windows 7 & 8 and Vista
     C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\ProSelect

On Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\ProSelect

 *Notes:

  1. Your User Name is your account name (careful - sometimes this is not the same as your login name).
  2. On Mac OSX Lion and newer - by default your Library folder is hidden from view. To get direct access to the Library folder, you can open it by selecting Library under the Finder’s Go menu while holding down the Alt/Option Key.  See also the article "Missing Library Folder on Mac OSX" for this and more.
  3. On Windows - by default the Application Data (AppData) folder is hidden from view. To get direct access to this folder, see the article "Missing AppData or ProgramData folder on Windows".

More on the Auto-Backup system and settings can be found on the "Saving & Loading Albums" page in the ProSelect Reference Manual (quick access under the Help menu in ProSelect).
